The History of Quiltmaking

A timeline of quilts from 1792 to the 1950’s.  Patterns, fabrics, and style help to determine when a quilt was made.  Bring your own beauties to share.

Not Just Your Grandmother’s Flower Garden

English Paper piecing is not all hexagons.  Explore the various shapes and patterns of this versatile technique. Stars, tumbling blocks, mosaics, and more.  Trunk Show includes antique and contemporary quilts.

Appliqué and Your Quilt

This trunk show features all the ways in which appliqué can enhance your quilt.  Border treatments, simple blocks, and pictorial quilts are showcased.

Feedsacks and More

Travel back to the 1930’s via vintage quilts, blocks, and feedsacks.  Learn the role of needlework in softening the effects of the hard times of the Depression.

Cobblestones and Jelly Rolls -

The newest craze to hit the quilting world - 2 ½” strips!  If you haven’t tried these strips - what are you waiting for?  Stars, plaids, butterflies, flowers and more are created with just these little strips.

This is NOT the Big Red Tomato

Learn the history of the pincushion, from the “Make-do’s” to the Victorian Beauties.  Do you have a special pincushion tucked away in your sewing box?  We would love to see it!  This lecture and trunk show works best with small groups (maximum of 20) or Tea Parties.

Lectures are approximately one hour in length and are accompanied by a corresponding trunk show.  We also offer workshops that will compliment the trunk shows.
